MOVIE : "GUESS WHO"

@@1/2

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

Ashton meets Bernie.... This movie seems pretty unoriginal especially after having seen Meet The Fockers a few months ago... they just added the race issue to the mix... Tension between the girl's dad and the groom-to-be! Wow! This film contains some funny parts and Ashton is always good at playing the nervous neurotic guy but this film is not worth your 10 bucks! Wait for the DVD to hit video stores, trust me!

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

It was nice to finally see Sandra Bullock on the big screen after a two-year break (her last film was Two Weeks Notice, co-starring Hugh Grant). Unfortunately, her return had to be in a mediocre movie.... one of the worst I have seen this year. The storyline is unbelievable, the supporting characters suck, some scenes and a lot of jokes fall flat! a big mess! The first one was kind of funny, they should have stopped after that... !

MOVIE : "MAMAN LAST CALL"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

Another good Quebec film! This movie stars Sophie Lorain and Patrick Huard (who seems to have played in every big Quebec movie of the last 2-3 years). This dramatic comedy talks about the stress of becoming parents for the first time. The film features some really funny scenes especially from the weather girl (the main character's best friend.

MOVIE : "THE RING TWO"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

The Ring, release in 2002, revitalized the horror genre the way Scream did 10 years ago.... ! So the pressure was on, to make a sequel and a good one too! Once again, I wish I never saw the full trailer, that shows a little too much to get people to go see it. I wasn't expecting it to be better than the original and it is not.... but it was wildly entertaining.. ! If you liked the first one, go see Two!

TV : "JAKE IN PROGRESS"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

Is is a drama ? Is it comedy, or dramedy! it's 30 min. with two episodes in a row, I'm not sure they know exactly how to sell this show. John Stamos is also trying to make a comeback with these new show where he acts as the producer and the main character. They compare this show to Sex in the City by saying "Same City, Different Sex". John Stamos hasn't been "big" since his Full House days (season 1 now available on DVD) and while he was shortly married to Rebecca Romjin. The show is nothing new, just average... it also stars the guy who played the ultra-feminine Javier on Felicity.

CD "JENNIFER LOPEZ - Rebirth"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

When I heard "Get Right" for the 1st time, it stayed in my head all day, probably due to that constant horn riff. This is what pop music should be. Jennifer Lopez doesn't have much vocal range, but she knows how to use what she has. With her 4th studio album, she does a good job... Entitled "Rebirth", J Lo tries to recover from her Bennifer/Gigli days and I think she will be just fine, with her music, her clothing line and her movie career (she stars in Monster-In-Law with Jane Fonda due out this May). Her last CD bored me to death except for 2 or 3 radio singles, this one is far superior and will make you want to tap your feet, move your head or whatever it is you do when listening to pop music.

TV : "THE CONTENDER"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I wasn't planning to watch this show featuring "has-been" international superstar Sylvester Stallone, who's been absent from the cinema screens since his role as the bad guy in Spy Kids 3D. I ended watching the season premiere of "The Contender" (produced by Mark Burnett, who also does Survivor and The Apprentice) expecting something corny! I was BLOWN away ! I really enjoyed it, the whole concept, the families, the challenges, the two teams, teh fight at the end. I was actually on the edge of my seat, rooting for my favorite... pretty crazy ! After two episodes, I just want more of "The Contender". Great Surprise!

CD : "MICHAEL BUBLÉ - It's Time"

@@@1/2

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I didn't know much about Michael Bublé until I hear the song "Home" on the radio. I "LOVE" that song that was featured in the movie "The Wedding Date". Michael Bublé, a young Canadian singer from Vancouver with some Italian roots, brings something new to 2005 contemporary music. He's often compared to Sinatra and other crooners. He has a few really great songs on this cd including a duet with Nelly Furtado (Quando, Quando, Quando) and a cover of the Beatles hit Can't Buy Me Love.

CD : "TORI AMOS - The Beekeeper"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

Tori is back with an album entitled "The Beekeeper", which chronicles her rather autobiographical protagonist's journey through what seems to be an overgrown labyrinth of the subconscious as she experiences a series of life-altering events and emotions. I didn't write that...! LOL! I always enjoy what Tori does, love the piano and her calming voice. This CD is good but not her best work. It's also surprinsgly long for a new CD in 2005, with nearly 80 min. of music ! If you're a fan of Tori Amos, you'll enjoy it.

TV : "THE STARLET"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

When I saw the commercial advertising this upcoming reality show, I thought it looked like another really dumb reality show... and it was. I saw about 10 min. of the 1st episode. And with all the repeats this week, I watched pretty much the entire 2nd episode (where they had to do a scene from the show Fastlane, a lesbian kiss in a hot tub.... these people are so evil... ! The girls were freaking out). The judging panel consists of Faye Dunaway, Vivica A. Fox (seen recently in Kill Bill Vol. 1) and some gay dude. Overall, this is not a great show... but beware... reality shows can be very addictive, even when stupid!

CD "3 DOORS DOWN - Seventeen Days"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

This is 3 DOORS DOWN's third album following 'The Better LIfe" and "Away from the Sun". This band has had a few big hits like "Kryptonite", "Here Without You", "Loser" and "When I'm Gone". Their first single off this CD, called "Let Me Go", is a really good song... I don't have anything negative to say about this CD except for its lack of originality. Unfortunately for them, this is probably not a band we'll remember 20 years from now!

CD "THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS - Push The Button"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

The new music from the Chemical Brothers is not as good as it use to be but I have to say that the first single off this new album, a track call "Galvanize" is quite catchy, original and has a great beat. They have a few other great songs on this cd and also a few that are not "that" great! They came out with a greatest hits CD is 2003 and it's been a while since they have done anything new. Overall, this is pretty good stuff !

MOVIE : "THE JACKET"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

If you haven't seen the preview and you see the poster, you might think this is a horror film. Actually, it's more of a really screwed up psychological thriller. You'll need to be wide awake for that one too. Adrien Brody, in the leading role, is great at playing this very confused character that want to figure things out in his head.

MOVIE : "MARIA FULL OF GRACE"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

This is a small but powerful film. It's no wonder Catalina Sandino Moreno got nominated for Best Actress for the Academy Awards! When she finds work as a drug mule, you feel her pain as she tries to swallow these drug pellets. These pellets contain heroin. Each weighs 10 grams. Each is 4.2 cm long and 1.4 cm wide. And they're on their way to New York in the stomach of a 17-year-old girl. Can you believe crazy stuff like that actually happens, that's just disturbing!

MOVIE : "HOTEL RWANDA"

@@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I unfortunately did not get a chance to see this film in time for the Oscars, but I finally saw it this week! It's too bad it did not win any award last Sunday... It's also too bad that most of us don't know all that much about what hapenned in Rwanda only 11 years ago. This film is very stressful and Don Cheadle probably plays here, the role of his carreer, and he is brilliant... Hope you guys get a chance to see it !

TV : "THE AMAZING RACE - Season 7"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I think CBS is slowly killing the show by playing so many seasons one after the other. Season 6 ended 3 weeks ago and now, here comes season 7. The teams seem interesting and very diverse compare to last season. They tried to spice things up by putting Rob & Amber from Survivor on the show, and it works. But it's not really fair to give these guys another chance at winning a million dollars. They already won $1 250 000 on Survivor... The season starts in Peru and next week in Chile. Let's see where they take them next!

TV : "SUMMERLAND"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I watched the season premiere of Summerland this week. It's got all the elements you need for a WB show, good looking people, comedy, drama, music, and of course, the beach ! Unfortunately, this show is very predictable and quite cheezy at times. I still think Lori Loughlin is cute (had a crush on her as a teenager when she was playing Rebecca on Full House!). But the show is a little too FROMAGE!
