MOVIE : "WEDDING CRASHERS"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

In a summer full of remakes and sequels it is nice to see something original ! This film reminds me of a mix between the American Pie trilogy and the Meet The Parents flicks. Vaughn and Wilson make a terrific duo. The rest of the cast is great including Rachel McAdams, canadian actress famous for her role in last summer's the Notebook. The film is hilarious... A good film to see with a crowd!

TV : "ROCK STAR : INXS"

Seriously, I really don't get why a band like INXS needs a reality show to find a new lead singer for their band. Also, everyone knows you can't replace Michael Hutchence! The show is pretty much like a rock version of american idol with over a dozen of young male and female singer trying to make their dream come true. The winner will record a new cd with INXS and go on tour with them. Somewhat entertaining!

MOVIE : "FANTASTIC FOUR"

Yes, it's another comic book inspired movie! With a summer of dark films like Star Wars, Batman Begins and War of the Worlds, Four brings the fun back to the big screens! The movie is entertaining with an interesting cast, storyline, good music and special effects. The Human Torch brings humour to the film with a lot of funny scenes. Great fun for everybody!

TV "BIG BROTHER 6"

@@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

This show is by far the most entertaining reality show and summer show. Now back for a 6th summer.... Julie Chen returns with 14 new houseguests (8 girls, 6 guys), a new house (with 2 floors and a very luxirious HOH room). With the first episode, the summer of scheming has begun. Alliances are forming and we still have no idea who knows each other from the outisde of this game. It will be a fun 3 months !

CD "ALANIS MORISSETTE - Jagged Little Pill Acoustic "

The biggest-selling album by a female artist in history, Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill is 16 times platinum and Billboard's Top Pop Album of the 90's. Now, 10 years after its release (yes, already!), Morissette and producer/co-writer have recorded the entire album in an acoustic version. The original CD is still, today, one of the most amazing rock (or pop-rock) cds of the 90s. This new twist and sound is very interesting and everyone who loved the original will enjoy this one.

MOVIE : "WAR OF THE WORLDS"

@@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

I was really excited to see this Spielberg - Cruise flick. Last time they teamed up for a film, on "Minority Report", it was an extraordinairy film. As expected, the special effects are incredible. Dakota Fanning proves once again that she has great talent. Tom Cruise is also very convincing in this dad role. Unfortunately, the last 5 min. were a little disapointing to me. I guess it's always a risk when doing big alien/invasion movies (i.e. Signs, ID4, etc.)

TV : "I WANT TO BE A HILTON"

Paris became famous for being famous. Now it's her mother's turn,Kathy Hilton, to look for some more fame. I Want To Be a Hilton is a reality show in which she tries to teach 14 regular folks — cowboys, showgirls, homegirls, clerks, ranch hands — how to eat escargot, hold a wineglass and live the high-society life. Also copied from the Apprentice, this show is not so great. You don't really need your brain for this one!

TV : "THE CUT"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

After the success of 3 seasons of the Apprentice, we had to presume someone would try to copy the idea. Could you have guessed it would be Tommy Hilfige ? I would not have guessed it. About a dozen designers perform tasks (split in two teams) to try to compete for a job with the world-known designer. The show is somewhat entertaining but doesn't bring anything new to the table.

MOVIE : "BATMAN BEGINS"

@@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

The caped crusader returns and begins nearly a decade after the last film nearly killed the franchise. The original batman film was great, the sequel by Tim Burton was okay, the 3rd one sucked and the 4th one, with Robin, was a total mess and a complete disaster. This one has the strongest cast of all of them. Christopher Nolan (who also directed MEMENTO) did a phenomenal job at resurrecting Bruce Wayne. The movie is smart, the vilains are exciting and the final result is very satisfying. Well, except for one thing, one girl to be precise. Katie Holmes was useless and not very believable in the role of the District Attorney and love interest.

CD "FOO FIGHTERS - In Your Honor"

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

This is already the band's fifth studio album. This one is a little different with one rock CD and one acoustic. The first single, "Best of You" is good but not spectacular. The rock CD contains some really good music. Foo Fighters at its best. On the other hand, the acoustic disc, is a little disapointing. Foo Fighters have had better slow songs in the past.

CD "SHAKIRA - Fijacion Oral Vol.1 "

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

The sexy latin popstar is back after her widely successful last record, her first english CD "Laundry Service" which sold millions of copies around the globe. Her first single off this album, "La Tortura" is very catchy. The rest of the album is very enjoyable. I love Shakira's voice, her tone. This first volume of Oral Fixation is entirely in spanish. Volume 2 will be released in the fall and will be an english record.

CD "BLACK EYED PEAS - Monkey Business"

@@@

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

Just like their previous effort "Elephunk", this new record features many different music genres; hip-hop, rock, folk, pop, funk, etc. This cd is also fun, upbeat and features many collaborations including Justin Timberlake (once again, Sting, James Brown & Jack Johnson. The best collaboration, in my opinion is the one with Jack Johnson on a track called Gone Going. This is a truly accessible ‘hip-pop’ CD

CD : "COLDPLAY - X & Y"

@@@1/2

Team America: World Police (2004) Poster

After having released only two albums, Coldplay has become one of the biggest bands on the planet. Once again, there were a lot of expectations for this 3rd CD. X&Y is once again, a great record. Chris Martin's voice is at its best. Unfortunately, I feel that there hasn't been much evolution between their 3 CDs. Don't get me wrong, this cd is great and the first few tracks are amazing.
